I'd still recommend it as a decent alternative to HDMI for PS3. Pros: - Ample length for typical hookups - Gold connectors- Thick, tangle preventive, high quality wiring and housing- Works on both PS2 and PS3 Cons: - Not compatible with all PS2s especially older versions that do not support progressive scan - Not compatible with all PS2 games - Non compatible games tend to streak purple lines on my LCD TV; forcing me to switch to the normal AV cable which sucks Overall I gave it a 4 star rating due to the non-compatibility issues. A clear disclaimer should have been displayed on the packaging.
Highly recommended. I have an HDMI cable for my PS3 so I bought this to use with my PS2 slim. Both machines are hooked up to my 46" HDTV so I was able to see a huge improvement when going from the out-of-the-box composite cables to these component cables.
After purchasing a PS3 i was cursed with a big screen TV lacking an HDMI input :( This was a great alternative until i was able to get a proper viewing device.
However, they still dont look as good as the original xbox. I would estimate a 10-20% better picture, nicer colors and graphic improvements. I thought hey, wait a minute, I dug out those cables and wow it was a perfect fit.
I threw these cables in my box of assorted cables and forgot about em. I have componet cables on that unit. I purchased these cables for my PS3 cuz I hav a 26" LCD with no HDMI, Then I got a 32" LCD and got the HDMI cable for it.
So, I was getting ready to purchase new cables and reading these reviews and was shocked to hear that the PS2 and PS3 have identical rear plugs. As for my PS3 and Xbox 360 I still cant decide wich unit I like more. Iwanted to play the original Half Life wich is only available on the PS2, so I purchased the game and a new slim PS2 unit.
I was really disapointed in the picture quality of the PS2 compared to my original XBox.
This is the only problem. Is very useful, but the only problem is that is very difficult to connect or disconnected, because every connector are made from metal and then slips.
